During his 12+ year legal career, Bill has sought to break the mold of your typical in-house attorney. Rather than have “legal” be seen as a blocker to growth or the dreaded department of “no,” Bill focuses on a collaborative approach to show his clients how their goals can be accomplished and, to put it simply, “get stuff done.”

A proud double-Illini, Bill graduated from the University of Illinois College of Law, magna cum laude, and started as an associate at an AmLaw 100 firm in Chicago practicing commercial and corporate litigation.

Excited about Chicago’s growing tech startup scene, Bill left private practice in 2017 to join the small legal team of a meal kit delivery startup. There, he developed his skills as a corporate generalist and provided support across the company as it grew to well over 1,000 employees and was acquired in 2018 by the largest grocery chain in the United States.

In 2020, Bill joined a Chicago-based parking reservation startup as its second legal hire supporting the company’s various business teams in the United States and Canada. Whether he was providing support to Sales, Product, Marketing, or HR, Bill was known for his approachability, empathy and hyper-focus on driving growth in a responsible way.

Bill’s time with these two startups gave him firsthand experience in navigating the fast-paced, ever-evolving challenges that businesses face. It also prepared him to be adept at identifying roadblocks quickly and charting a clear path forward to growth and success. Wanting to put this experience to use for more companies that needed flexible, on-demand legal support, Bill formed Inside Track Legal Consulting in August 2024.

When he’s not “lawyering,” Bill enjoys visiting new restaurants, playing tennis and rooting for his beloved Fighting Illini. He currently resides in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood with his wife and rescue dog.
